The summer months in Barbados are packed with fun-filled and cultural activities, sure to be enjoyed by all who attend, especially since the Crop Over Festival in Barbados runs from the June 2nd, 2018 to August 6th, 2018.

Soca Royale – July 29th

This Crop Over event takes place at Bushy Park, St. Philip. This high-energy musical production features top artistes of the two most popular music forms of the Crop Over festival – Sweet Soca and Party Monarch music. Here you can enjoy performances from artistes with the most infectious Soca (Calypso music) released for the Crop Over season. It is a perfect day for a picnic with friends – to eat, drink and enjoy the island’s culture and as a bonus – some breathtaking views!

Bridgetown Market – August 3rd – 6th

Bridgetown Market is a must-do Crop Over event. This free street fair takes place on a stretch of the Spring Garden Highway. There is always an abundance of local foods, arts and crafts, jewellery and live entertainment as you walk around. This event is perfect for families and as a plus, it is right along the beautiful Brandons beach.

Grand Kadooment – August 6th

Grand Kadooment is the climax of the entire Crop Over Season. Traditionally, this parade marked the end of another successful sugar cane harvest season for the island. This grand parade is a highly anticipated event where revellers in different bands celebrate in beautifully crafted feathered costumes to the best Soca music of the festival. People who don’t participate in the parade flock to the sides of the streets to take in the action and also enjoy the music as the revellers pass by. It is a day of pure bliss and enjoyment for locals and visitors alike.

Barbados International Hockey Festival – August 19th – 25th

The Barbados International Hockey Festival is the island’s biggest field hockey event featuring teams from Barbados and the wider Caribbean, the UK, Europe and South America, among others. This year is the 33rd edition. Following this festival, there will be a fun-filled cruise and island beach party.

Barbados Turf Club Horse Racing Season 2 – August 1st, 11th, 25th

Horse racing has been held at the historic Garrison Savannah for more than 150 years. There are usually 3 seasons a year, organized by the Barbados Turf Club. During this second season, as with all seasons, there will be 9 races a day, beginning at 1 pm. These are sure to be exciting days of thoroughbred horse racing, fit for the entire family.
